KND Ring Information

The KND Ring is a special ring worn by KND Operatives and anyone working for the KND undercover (i.e. KND Spies). The system of using hair ties in this fashion was created by Numbuh 5 while she was Supreme Leader.

The connector for the hair tie (usually wax or a piece of brass) acts as a tracking device. The Supreme Leader can use the computer and these ties to find any operative in the world, as long as they are wearing the tie.

No matter which design the operative wears, they all have the same 2 distinct meanings. The front (the part you see when you can see your knuckles and fingernails) has a twist where two parts cross together. This simbolizes unity of kids around the world. The back (the part you see when you can see the palm of your hand) is in the shape of an x. This simbolizes anti-adult awareness, or AAA among the KND.

When KND operatives/other members meet with each other, to identify themselves they use these gestures and sayings:

All operatives present hold their dominate hand out, palms facing each other, and say: “Alone, we no better than the enemy.”

Now they all flip their hands over, so now the fronts of their dominate hand face each other, and say: “Together, we are our own kind. We are, the Kids Next Door."

If all operatives say this correctly and in unison, there is no doubt that any suspicious characters are indeed operatives (for further suspicions, the Giant Computer-mabob can be used as a back-up plan, but you don't have to worry about that).

Use a simple rubber band or hair tie to make the Ring. The looser the better, so you don't accidently cut off any circulation in your finger.


Before starting, you need to figure out the finger you need.

FOR NON-OPERATIVES:

- Count how many letters are in your first name.
- Starting from your thumb on your dominate hand, count using the number from the first step. If you go over 5, continue back from your thumb.
- The finger you land on after counting is the finger you use.
EXAMPLE: A boy named Billy who is left handed would have his ring on his left pinky.

FOR KND OPERATIVES:

- From your numbuh, find the biggest number in the set.
- Starting from your thumb on your dominate hand, count using the highest number from the first step. If you go over 5, continue back from your thumb.
- The finger you land on after counting is the finger you use.
EXAMPLE: Operative Numbuh 362 who is right handed would have her ring on her right thumb.


REGULA INSTRUCTIONS

1. Wrap the hair tie (shown in green) around your finger

2. Twist it counter-clockwise twice

3. Your finger should now look like this. Check the back of your finger. If the back is crossed, as shown in step 5, you are done. Skip step 4.

4. Take the top left strand and pull it over the bottom left strand.

5. If you've done this correctly, your finger should now look like this. If your back is not crossed, repeat step 4 until it is.


SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Wrap the hair tie (shown in green) around your finger

2. Twist it counter-clockwise three times

3. Your finger should now look like this. Check the back of your finger. If the back is crossed, as shown in step 5, you are done. Skip step 4.

4. Take the bottom left strand and pull it over the top left strand

5. If you've done this correctly, your finger should now look like this. If your back is not crossed, repeat step 4 until it is.


There is a final design I will reveal when the story is over. Showing it to you now will ruin part of the story.

Feel free to comment/ post pics of your KND Rings. Remember they can be any color, any design, and doesn't have to just be a hair tie. Get creative with it!

Just so you know, it might feel a little funny at first if you're not used to wearing something on your finger. But you eventually get used to it; for example, I wear one everyday (the Special design, since I'm a Spy) and sometimes don't even feel it anymore. I do remember it's there though, when I look down at my hand.
